New Moon in Cancer (Total Solar Eclipse, July 2)
Talk about feeling you are fumbling around in the dark with little time or inclination to climb out of the emotional swamp you find yourself suddenly enveloped in. The purpose of the New Moon is always to push you to open yourself up to new possibilities by exploring life without a clear sense of direction, trusting that all will be revealed. That energy is amplified beyond measure when the New Moon is a Total Solar Eclipse. And amplified yet again when it is in the sign of Cancer. Pay close attention to all that you are feeling and sensing. It sets the tone for some major growth over the next several months. A door way is opening to a stronger, deeper and clearer picture of who you are and how to use that knowledge to build an inner sense of power based on self-reliance.
Full Moon in Capricorn (Partial Lunar Eclipse, July 16)
Another eclipse to help you get your ducks in a row. Which is often the purpose of any Full Moon. Everything is out in the open, the shadows are gone and now you can take a look at what you are creating. But, in order to do that right now, this Full Moon lets you know you need to clear out any emotional detritus, fear or resistance to replacing any part of the old foundation of your life based on duty, obligation, and guilt. Quite the tall order. Just know you don’t have to do it all right now. This is just another step in the process that began in 2018 and will continue until June of 2020. One that invites you to find a way to integrate the need to build external stability with the need to live your life from your heart and your gut. To know that life happens from the inside out, and it’s time to take notice of and care of your inner self.
The key to finding the joy in life right now is playfulness, creativity and just plain having fun. It’s the necessary and available antidote to becoming too absorbed in trying to fix what you consider a whole host of problems you didn’t even know you had. Well, life has a way of revealing things to us at inconvenient times and in ways we find difficult. To ease the pressure of the challenge this signifies – not avoid it – reconnect to the child-like part of yourself and just let your hair down. Pamper yourself, play a sport, have a party, watch something that makes you laugh. In other words, do something that lightens your mood or inspires you or releases tension. Or all of the above. This makes it easier to use all the stuff you think is crowding out the sunlight to create a healthier you.
Prepare for a date with reality. A look at exactly what is standing in your way or keeping you stuck. This comes courtesy of the Solar and Lunar eclipses and Mercury Retrograde (begins July 7 and ends Aug 1). Not to stop you in your tracks but to ask you to be aware of the internal blockages that have the potential to keep you from reaching your goal – to trust yourself implicitly. Take a look at your path, your thoughts, your ideas, and your plans, and ask yourself one question. Do they reflect who I am at my core or do they mirror my willingness to stubbornly stick to what I know, what I am comfortable with, what I can depend on? Embrace the answer, no matter what it is. Just be careful not to project any of the frustration and confusion you feel on to any outside target whether it’s a person or a situation. This only complicates life as well as failing to release any judgement or stress you are experiencing. Release your fear that the sky is going to fall in. And trust that you can handle whatever comes your way.
Expect to confront a deep desire to push yourself beyond your emotional limits without first taking stock of where exactly it is you are heading. On all levels. Rather than reacting by trying to overthink what’s burbling up from within, pushing it back down or acting precipitately, breathe and stay present. Once you get past the first smidgen of discomfort and dismay, you are on the verge of a major awareness about the shift you need to make in your life so that you can integrate the potential for growth in your feeling world without sacrificing anything you hold dear in your physical world. Just know that while this process is ongoing, you are going to feel invisible and weightless at the same time you feel dense. True, it’s likely to be disconcerting. After all, this is a time when we all need to dance between opposites, paradoxes and conundrums. Quite the feat. One that is not impossible, provided you follow your heart and not your rational mind.
